Jesus Lives!

Dr. Philpott had a nine year old son named Donnie, who was confined to the hospital with a serous contagious disease. The doctor told him that Donnie would not live. Dr. Philpott was the only one of the family allowed to visit Donnie just one more time before he died. All of them were broken hearted. The brothers and sisters sent their messages to Donne and mother had a tender word for her little son. It broke Dr. Philpott's heart as he looked down upon his dying boy, "Daddy", said the boy, "aren't you going to kiss me?".

The father said, "Son, I want to kiss you, but the doctor won't let me do it now. Someday I will be able to kiss you.". And then Donnie said "Daddy, am I going to die?". Dr. Philpott did not want to frighten the child so he simply asked, "Son, are you afraid?" The boy answered, "I was afraid this morning when something seemed to say to me, "Donnie, don't be afraid, I will be with your". Since that time I haven't been afraid, Daddy. I know Jesus will be with me."

Dr. Philpott gave Donnie the messages from the family, told him good-bye, and left with a breaking heart. That night Donnie died. The mother and children broke down and cried, but then Dr. Philpott gathered the family in a huddle and told them not to weep. He told them Donnie was not afraid because Jesus was with him. Later on he said, "All my life I had been telling people that Jesus would be with them in their time of sorrow. Then I had to tell my own family the same thing. Now I am able to go out and tell people that Jesus will be with them in the hour of death, for He was with my little boy and he died unafraid."

Thank God, Christ Jesus lives. Hallelujah! He lives, not simply in a story or in a far away Heaven where no one can reach Him. He lives with us in all these experiences of life. Finally, He will take us home where we, too, shall live forever.

"Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort: Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God."
                        (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)
