God In The Tomorrows

        The oriental shepherd was always ahead of his sheep. He was in front. Any attempt upon the sheep had to take him into account. Now God is down in front. He is in the tomorrows. It is tomorrow that fills men with dread. But God is there already, and all the tomorrow of our life have to pass before Him before they can get to us

Put Your Hand In God's Hand

        "I said to the man at the gate of the new year, "Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown" and he replied, "Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the hand of God. That shall be to you better than a light and safer than a known way.".


God's Word

        The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are biding, its histories are true, its prophecies are accurate, and in decisions are immutable.

        Study it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you.

        It is the travelers map, the pilgrims staff, the pilots compass, the soldiers sword, and the Christian character. Here Paradise is restored, Heaven opened, and the gates of Hell disclosed. 

        Christ is the grand subject, our good its design, and the glory of God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet.

        Read it slowly, frequently, prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, a river of pleasure.

        It is given you in life, will be opened in judgment, and will be remembered forever.

        It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the greatest labour, and condemns all who trifle with its sacred contents.
