Oh Give Thanks Unto The Lord
"O give thanks unto the LORD; for He is good; for His mercy endurath forever" ( 1 Chronicles 16;34)
The Nature of True Thankfulness
It implies:
1 A right apprehension of benefits conferred.
2 A faithful remembrance of benefits conferred.
3 Due to acknowledge of our obligations.
4 A feeling of love and esteem for the benefactor.
To Whom Shall We Be Thankful?
The Lord:
1 The almighty Creator and Preserver of all things.
2 Our Heavenly Father with whom we have been reconciled
The Obligation Arises:
1 From the relation we sustain to God
2 From the divine command
3 From the example of those saved by grace
4 From our unworthiness of the blessings we receive.
For What Shall We Be Thankful?
For His goodness and mercy. Everywhere is evidence of it.
1 He gives us the earth for our abode
2 He gives us strength to cultivate the soil
3 He blesses our work with "the early and latter rain"
4 He gives us an abundant harvest
