Part Five of my Trip to the Museum of the Bible in Washington DC (last part till I go visit again).

Image
This is the fifth and last part of my trip to the Museum of the Bible in Washington DC. These photos were taken all on the same day and trip. I want to go back and do more exploring. There were parts that was closed that day and there are some that changed. It would be neat to see / hear scripture reading in the auditorium plus other things they do there.  Here is a part of the wall of Jerusalem (if I remember correctly - you just have to visit to see if I am right or wrong). One can touch it (I am sure of this part). It was neat. It showed Jerusalem in the photo. Another part of the roof that looks out to the city. Here is another view of the city from the roof / top floor.  Here is part of the floor on the history of the Bible. I think I showed this before (or just another photo of it) but I am showing it again.  I like how the columns are made to look like ones from an older church.  I think theses are Bible scrolls. I thin...

Part Four of my Trip to the Museum of the Bible in Washington DC

This is the four part of the my trip to the Museum of the Bible in Washington DC. There is a lot to see and learn. If one wants to learn not only about the Bible but also those who were or are involved in it, this museum is the go to place. I would recommend not only going once but a few times. I believe there are parts that change. I think one can not learn everything there in just one trip.  This is George Washington Carver . I think he was a brilliant man. He did so much to help farmers create a market for what they grow. Here is information on George Washington Carver. It was really interesting. This is the Gutenberg press . It was really cool looking. I believe this is a replica. Here is another view of it. A Gutenberg press was used to print a Bible. I believe it was the first book to be printed using it.  Here are some images of the pages that was printed using the replica Gutenberg printer. I think they came out really nice. It made pri...

Part Three of my Trip to the Museum of the Bible in Washington DC

Image
This is the third part of my trip to the Museum of the Bible in Washington DC. Ultimately I will be showing all 60 photos that I took there. It is too much for one blog.  I have been told that they would not last long since they charge a fee to enter. I think that what one learns and experiences at the museum is worth the fee to enter; which in my opinion is not much.  They showed the different editions of the King James Version.  I found this to be fascinating.  The room with the Bibles is very impressive. It seems to have vaulted ceilings that are found in some church buildings.  I think these scrolls are neat.  One can see there is a lot to see. I think this was interesting and impressive; it was really big / wide.  The room is just as impressive as the contents in it.  This is the roof of the building. One can look out and see the surrounding buildings. Having a fear of heights, I did not...

Part Two of My Trip to the Museum of the Bible in Washington DC

Image
This is the part where they had the King James Bibles. It gave some information on the history of it and there were a few King James Bibles too. There might be other photos of this floor where they have the history of the Bible and they will be part of a different blog. It took up the whole floor. There are six floors of the museum with floor having a different theme / part of the Bible. These photos are nice but one should go to the museum to really experience what they have and learn from what they show.  The upper part of the King James Bible sign. Here is the lower part of the sign above showing Bibles.  Here is the same sign as above.  Here is the king who authorized the creation of the King James Bible; King James. He was King James the VI of Scotland then became King James the 1st of England.  Here is the whole display for King James.  Here are more Bibles. Here is a really big Bible.  They have a varie...

Part one of the Museum of the Bible Adventure

Image
I have some 60 plus photos of the Museum of the Bible. This is the first ten photos on my phone. I will be doing them in groups of 10 so one post isn't too long. There is a lot to see and experience at the museum. I found this to be very interesting.  I believe this is a replica of the Rosetta Stone. Since they knew two of the languages, they were able to understand the third since all three where of the same text.  I am not sure what these are but it was very interesting. I guess one would have to visit to find out.  I think these are Torahs.  This shows a variety of crosses. I do not know what the scrolls were of but it was cool to see so many of them.  There was a lot of Bibles on display. There was a variety of Bible translations; both old and new ones.  This was at the entrance to the Drive Through History presentation. Parts of the video / movie was distributed throughout the floor it was on. We did not see...
