The God Breathed Scriptures

Seven Reasons I Believe The Scriptures Are Inspired

1 - The Bible So Claims - In the Old Testament alone, the expression, "Thus saith the Lord" appears over 2,000 times.
2 Timothy 3:16 states "All scriptures is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instructions in righteousness". also 2 Peter 1:20-21.

2 - Christ believed them to be inspired and authoritative. In
Luke 4:4-12, we see Christ's use of the scripture in opposing the tempter. In Matthew 5:18; He stated, "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, not one jot or one title shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled". In John 10:35, He declared that the " scripture cannot be broken. "

3 - The unit of the Bible demands it. Over forty human authors, writing over a period of fifteen centuries, in three different languages, out of different social classes on two continents - yet present one harmonious and progressive scheme of salvation. The explanation is that while their styles may differ, they were borne along by the Holy Spirit
(2 Peter 1:21). He is the real author.

4 - The uniqueness of the Bible requires it. The teaching about God, Creation, man, sin, salvation, and more are inexhaustible. The ethical standards are sublime. The message is adaptable to those of all races, classes  and ages.

5 - Fulfilled prophecy argues that God is the Author in a unique sense. The prediction of 1 Kings 12:2 to Jeroboam about the future King Josiah is accurately fulfilled three centuries later (2 Kings 23:15). The dooms pronounced upon Babylon (Isaiah 14) and Jerusalem (Matthew 24) are both fulfilled. The Messianic predictions are gloriously carried out in the advent, life, ministry, suffering, resurrection and ascension of Christ.

6 - The indestructibility of the Scripture also attests to divine inspiration / Multitudinous have been the attacks, but the Bible has been found, in the words of Gladstone, an "impregnable rock".

7 - The frankness of its treatment of heros also argues for the inspiration of the Bible. Here there is no whitewashing of its heros. David and Peter appear with both their strengths and weaknesses. The psychoanalysis of man by the Bible is quite devastating. The Book is a mirror in which man can see himself.
