The "FLEE' Market
This is copied from the bulletin of Calvary Baptist Church of Portsmouth NH. The bulletin is dated 03/24/2024.
The "FLEE" Market
The Bible contains a vast "flee market" with over 100 flee verses. Flee means to run, git, shun, avoid, move, and don't look back. There are times to face and fight. There are also times to flee and forget. Wisdom is knowing when - when to wait and when to walk. Know when to stop and know to step.
TIMES TO FLEE
"Flee fornication" (1 Corinthians 6:18)
Learn that lifetime lust lingers within you (Romans 7:20). In his later years John R Rice said, "I have not become sinless, but I do sin less."
TIMES TO FOLLOW
"But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness." (1 Timothy 6:11).
"Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness ..."
TIMES TO FIGHT
"Fight the good fight of faith" (1 Timothy 6:12)
Fight good fights of faith - flee bad fights of flesh.
"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" (James 4:7).
Notice that as you flee to God, the devil flees from you. As you draw nigh to God, God draws nigh to you (James 4:8). When the devil reminds you of your past, remind him of his future. The devil and God are incompatible.
Question: Whos is fleeing? you or the devil?
FAVORITE FLEE TIMES
"In the LORD put i my trust; how say ye to my soul, flee as a bird (fly) to your mountain? - Psalm 11:1
There are times to flee to your happy place.
"Now my days are swifter than a post: they flee away, they see no good". - Job 9:25
Some say, "Time Flies.". Well what else can it do? Time will not stop or slow down, but you can. Warning! The came should have avoided that last straw.
"Whither shall I go from they spirit?" or whither shall I flee from they presence? - Psalm 139:7
There is no place to flee from God! God is here, there and everywhere. God has always been and He will always be. No one can flee from God - no one (Psalm 139:8)! You are facing an inescapable appointment with God (Hebrews 9:27).
Flea markets are seasonal but God's flee market is open 24/07/365. The Lord will never flee or forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). So, lets learn when to FOLLOW, FIGHT OR FLEE.
The World Will Try To Satisfy
That longing in your soul
You may search the wide world o'er,
But you'll never be just as before!
You'll never find your true satisfaction,
Until you've found the Lord.
For only Jesus can satisfy your soul.
Only Jesus can satisfy your soul.
Only He can change your heart and make it whole.
He'll give you peace you never knew,
Sweet love and joy and Heaven, too.
For only Jesus can satisfy your soul!
