The Greatest Gift
this is supposed to be a gift. I did it in Windows paint.
The greatest gift that ever was given sent straight to us from God's own heaven.
Was not a priceless crown of gold or some other rare gem of worth untold.
But God himself gave His own Son, the sinless, perfect worthy one.
Whose blood could pay salvation's price. and be God's Lamb of sacrifice.
In the fullness of time our Savior's come, whose Name is above all others names, He left behind His kingly throne, and Heaven's wealth that was His own. Creator was He, humble, peasant's birth, to a dark and lonely stable stall came the King of Kings and Lord of all.
Perfect was He, without blemish or blot, though I am a sinner, He sinned not, though I am unworthy of all His grace, still He died as a sinner, and took my place.
In Bethlehem prophecy as fulfilled, Messiah was born, just as God willed. He became sin that I might become God's child, through Heaven's new birth, a son. Through most of the world knew it not that night, in the sky lowly shepherds, saw a glorious sight. They heard as the mountains and valleys rang. With heavenly praises the angels song. "Fear not", was their message, "for born this day in Bethlehem's stable not far away. Is the Savior, Messiah, the great I AM God's only begotten, God's perfect Lamb".
They ran to the stable so they could see This One who was born to die for me. And Go's mighty power around was felt, as they worshipped Him and before Him knelt.
In the sky was a magnificent star that witnessed of Him to kings afar. Across the many miles those wise men came, to bring Him gifts and reverence His name.
This greatest Gift that was ever given to open wide the gates of heaven, was not placed in a box under a tree, but was hung on one to set me free.
This Gift that was given because God loved me so is not wrapped in paper or tied with a bow. God so loved the world, and sent us His son that whosever believeth in Him many come. I can become a son, since He became sin. He traded me places, my soul to win. From sin's darkest depths my soul to lift, Jesus Christ, Lord and Savior, God's greatest gift.
