Power of Positive Thinking and the BIble?

copied from the King James Online Bible (link above)

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

I think the Bible shows the power of positive thinking
with the above scripture.

1 Whatsoever things are true;
    It shows that we are to think on things that are
    true. I believe it excludes things that are false or
    untrue. This doesn't mean we believe everything
    but look 'on the bright side' instead of the 'dark
    side'.

2 Whatsoever things are honest;
    Literally opposite of dishonest. We need to think
    on things that are honest. The world can be such a
    dishonest but God doesn't want us to be like
    the world but more like Him.

3 Whatsoever things are just;
    There are so many things that are unjust. We need
    to think on the just things.

4 Whatsoever things are pure;
    I believe it is opposite of impure. I believe when
    we dwell on the things that are pure, our life
    will follow suit.

5 Whatsoever things are lovely;
    I think this covers things that are pleasant and
    not unpleasant.

6 Whatsoever things are of good report;
    As oppose to things that are of false report.
    This doesn't mean - IMO - being naïve but being
    able to discern what is a good report.

7 If there be any virtue, if there be any praise,
    think on these things.

    Virtue - Wikipedia. There is a good definition of
    it at this site. It is a the good characteristics that we need to develop.

    To praise something that is good. It is in our nature to dwell on the negative and see the bad. We need to recognize the good and praiseworthy things.

        To think or dwell on these things. I think one should not ignore the other but give more on the above than the opposite of the above. It is - IMO - better to live in the light (God's love and His Word) than to dwell or continually think of negative things.

    I believe this is the part of the 'power of positive
thinking'. When we do the above, we not only improve our attitude but our lives; IMO.

There are other translations on this site.
I like and prefer the KJV since I think it
is the best version.

The above is just some of my thoughts about
this verse. It is far from perfect but I am
hoping to inspire others to not only
have better thinking but to do
research of ones own; reading of God's
word and getting advice from a church
and a preacher who not only accepts
that the Bible is God's word but
also preaches and teaches it.
It seems not many do so today.
